A day after he was attacked on social media, Jim Ovia withdraws from World Economic Forum in South Africa

Businessman Jim Ovia has withdrawn from participating in the World Economic Forum holding in South Africa, just 24 hours after he was heavily criticised on Twitter.

In a statement released this morning, Ovia said he made the decision to withdraw from activities at the WEF beacuse of the Xenophobic attacks currently going on in South Africa.

The statement reads in part:

“Following the hypersensitivity of the issues surrounding the lives and well-being of Nigerian citizens living in South Africa and to contribute his voice against the poor state of security regarding foreign nationals living in Africa, Jim Ovia has withdrawn from further activities at the World Economic Forum Africa 2019, taking place in Cape Town, South Africa”.
