BREAKING: Nine dead after a small aircraft crashed into an Island in Umea,Sweden

Nine people have been declared dead after a plane carrying people for parachute jump crashed into an Storsandskar Island in Umea, Sweden.

According to a local media report, the plane left Umea airport around 1.30pm, it sounded alarm at 2.12pm before crashing into Storsandskar island just 2km from Umea’s airport, in Delta of the Umea river .

The spokeswoman of the Region Vasterbotten Municipality, Gabriella Bandling confirmed the incident and said,

The nine people on board are dead.

The plane was a GippsAero GA8 Airvan, a small aircraft popular with skydiving operations which is designed to carry eight people including the pilot.
