British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson appoints Olukemi Olufunto into his cabinet

The new Bristish Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, on Saturday July 27 appointed Olukemi Olufunto Badenoch a junior Minister at the Departement for Education(DFE)

DFE is a department of her Royal Majesty’s Government responsible for child protection, education, apprenticeships and wider skills in England.

39-year-old Olukemi studied systems engineering at Sussex Univeristy and also has a law degree.

She is a British Conservative politician and a member of Parliament for Saffron Walden.

The mother of two was born in Wimbledon, London to parents of Nigerian origin and arrived United Kingdom at the age of 16.

Olukemi revealed her new appointment on Twitter. She wrote:

I’m humbled to have been appointed a junior minister at the DfE. A huge privilege to be able to serve and make a positive difference on a number of issues close to my heart. I look forward to working with the ministerial team and everyone at @educationgovuk

Thank you for all good wishes and kind messages of support received. I also look forward to working not just with @Conservatives colleagues but cross-party and grateful for the warm welcome from @TracyBrabin and @SteveReedMP who no doubt will be keeping me on my toes!
