President Buhari on Tuesday, October 8, told a joint session of the national assembly that he had cold because he was working hard to meet the deadline given to him by lawmakers .
He said this while presenting the 2020 budget .
“I will start by asking you to pardon my voice. As you can hear, I have a cold as a result of working hard to meet your deadline!” the president said before proceeding to deliver his speech.
The comment attracted loud laughter and applause from all those inside the chamber, including the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, federal lawmakers, state governors, members of the Federal Executive Council and leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress, among others
In his remarks, Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house of representatives, sympathised with the president over his cold.
Last week, the national assembly approved N10.73 trillion as the federal government’s total estimated expenditure for 2020.
