Angry youths in ofumwengbe community in the Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State,one Tuesday , protested the rape and killing of a woman by suspected Fulani Herdsmen at Okada junction.

The youths reportedly blocked the Benin-Ore expressway to protest the woman’s death.

Eye witness report said the unnamed woman’s body was found on her farm with her hand and leg dismembered by her assailants after raping her.

The angry youths reportedly took the woman’s body to the expressway to protest her death causing serious traffic on the expressway.The protest was later brought under control by security agents .

The state Commissioner of Police, DanMallam Muhammed confirmed the incident and said that how the woman died is still unknown as nobody saw the Fulani Herdsmen killing her,adding that there was no clash between the Herdsmen and youths in the area .

The youths blocked the road because a woman died in the farm and they alleged that it was herdsmen that killed her. They did not wait for police investigation but blocked the road and brought hardship on travellers who did not know anything about it. The woman went to the farm and this morning she was discovered dead. The youths suspected it was herdsmen that killed her but nobody saw the herdsmen killing her, he said.

He,however warned the youths not to proceed with the protest as hoodlums usually hijack such situations.

The Herdsmen in the community took to their heels for fear of being attacked by the youths.

The lady who shared the story online revealed that two of her friends were killed and had to pay N3million and N10million as ransom before they were released.
