Imo State Set To Be The Cleanest State In Nigeria.

Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha has yesterday initiated a new programme of which will see to Imo State being that very neat state it was known for in past years.

In order to achieve this, the Governor reinstituted the monthly cleanup exercise in the state which will now be accompanied with ‘Governor’s prize’ at the end of each month’s exercise.

In order to achieve this goal, he set up a committee which will be seeing to the effect of that of the month of July as the exercise will kick off immediately.

The committee is made up of prominent men in Imo State, which includes: the former governor H.E Ikedi Ohakim, who is the leader of the committee, the commander, 34 Artillery Brigade as the vice chairman.

Others included in the committee are: chairmen of the NLC, NUT, NURTW, CAN(Imo State chapter), PFN(Imo state chapter), SUG presidents of IMSU, FUTO,Fed.Poly Nekede, Imo Poly, AIFCE, FECOLART.

According to the chief press Secretary to Gov. Ihedioha, The leader of the committee who is a former Governor was chosen because of his numerous outstanding awards on clean and green environment and his excellence in environment and sanitation.

It is believed that with him as the chairman of the group, he will use his broad knowledge in environment and sanitation in making the goal a huge success.

The chief Press Secretary also made it known that the duty of this committee includes: looking for sponsorship for the governor’s prize which will be given to the neatest Local Government, neatest autonomous community, neatest schools both in primary and secondary of each local government.

The committee is also going to see to the total enforcement in compliance of this programme and as well recommend and organize the Governor’s prize.

This is believed to make Imo State the neatest State in the federation.
