Kidnapped Enugu Permanent Secretary regains freedom

Mr Augustine Udeh, the Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Lands, who was kidnapped on Sunday has regained freedom.

Mr Udeh was kidnapped between Isuawa and the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Ituku-Ozalla, along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, while returning from his home town.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed this in a statement, said his abductors were forced to set him free after police joined forces with neighborhood watch groups to arrest them .

“Ude was abducted on August 25 in the Ituku Awgu area of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.

“We are still working towards unmasking his abductors who hurriedly released him and fled to avoid being nabbed at Ogbaku forest,” Amaraizu said .

“A full scale investigation has been intensified into the incident,’’ he added.
