Lagos State Police Command arrests Uber driver for selling company’s car

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended an Uber driver, Ademola Quadri alongside two others for raising false alarm with the intent to cover up their crime.

The Command spokesperson, Bala Elkana, in a statement released today 7th July, said Quadri made a complain at the Igando Police Station on Monday 1st July, stating that his Toyota Corolla Saloon car with registration number SMK 732 BR, property of Pinehill Leasing Ltd, was snatched from him by three armed men .

CSP Taiwo Kasumu, the Divisional Police Officer, suspecting foul play decided to investigate calls and text messages he received before he made the report at the station .

However, police investigations revealed that he received a bank alert of N560k on his phone with a follow up message from an unknown person demanding to have the car since a part payment has been made .

When he was challenged with the information available to the police,Quadri confessed to selling off the car, with the intention of using the money realised to travel to Canada.

He later led police detectives to where the said car was parked at Ijegun area of Ikotun.

According to Police two other persons ,Uche Sunday ,32, the marketer who negotiated with the buyer online and the buyer , were also arrested.

The suspects would be charged to court soon.
