NSCDC arrests housewife for burning 7-year-old step-daughter’s private part in Borno State

38-year-old woman identified as Hauwa Adamu has been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Borno State for allegedly using flaming charcoal to burn the private parts of her 7-year-old step-daughter .

NSCDC Commandant, Mr Abdullahi Ibrahim, who confirmed her arrest to newsmen on Wednesday in Maiduguri, said she was arrested in Moduganari area of Maiduguri.

According to Ibrahim , Hauwa allegedly meted out horrible acts of punishment on the minor, over what she called disobedience.

He said the case was reported to the command by good Samaritans.

Ibrahim said preliminary investigations revealed that the young girl, who was put under Hauwa’s care after her parents separated, was subjected to different forms of abuse by Hauwa.

He added that the case had been transferred to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), for further investigation and action.
