“There was nothing like that during our time” – President Buhari’s witness in court denies they submitted their certificates to the Nigerian army

Recall that in 2015, President Buhari had claimed that his certificates were with the military board and could be obtained on request.

However at the Presidential tribunal on Tuesday one of his witnesses, Major General Paul Tafa (rtd.) who claimed to have been enlisted in the Nigeria Army with President Buhari on April 16, 1962, denied they submitted their certificates to the Military board.

Major.Gen Paul, during cross examination by counsel for the Independent National Electoral commission ,Yunus Usman(SAN), insisted that the Nigerian Army never asked them to surrender their certificate in 1962 for whatever reasons.

There was nothing like that during our time, he said. But confirmed that English was the official language of communication in the army.

When cross-examined by Atiku’s lead counsel Livy Uzokwu, he named some members of his set with whom he and Buhari were enlisted to include, Brig.-Generals Ola Oni, Duro Ajayi, Col. A.C. Ojukwu, the late Brig-Generals, Abdullahi Sellem and Shehu Yar’Adua.
