Russia Instagram influencer Ekaterina Karaglanova found dead in suitcase

A popular Russian Instagram influencer was found dead with her throat slit inside a suitcase in her Moscow apartment on Friday.

The Instagram influencer identified as Ekaterina Karaglanova ,24, who recently graduated from medical school had over 85,000 Instagram followers before her death.

She had been planning a trip to Netherlands to celebrate her 25th birthday with her 52-year-old new found love and family before she was murdered .

Ekaterina’s family grew worried when efforts to contact her concerning the trip failed.

Her family then contacted her landlord and requested access to her apartment, there her body was found inside a suitcase in the hallway.

Ekaterina’s father immediately called an ambulance but she was confirmed dead on arrival.

The police said there was no sign that Karaglanova struggled with her killer and no weapon was found at the crime scene.

Police added that CCTV footage captured her former boyfriend visiting her apartment briefly in the days around her disappearance .

The current whereabouts of the boyfriend is unknown.

Police said they suspect jealousy as motive for the killing .

In a recent news, CCTV footage showing a man entering and later leaving the flat where Ekaterina was found dead has been obtained by Russian channel REN TV.

The man is seen entering the block of flats with face hidden by a cap.

Four hours later the man left with a smaller suitcase and it is believed that he removed her bloodstained clothes and a weapon used to slit her throat.

The man shown was wearing gloves despite it being 27C outside on Friday when police said she was killed .

A friend called Oksana told Komsomolskaya Pravda(KP) newspaper that Ekaterina was receiving threats.

The friend said:

She wrote that she could be killed. But I was comforting her, [telling her] that they would do nothing to her. I cannot believe that Katya [Ekaterina] not here any more.

Another friend named Nina said she was being blackmailed by “unknown people” over naked pictures, according to KP .

Threats were coming from “dodgy” accounts on a Russian social media network, she said.

“They were saying she was a prostitute.”
