‘School pupil’ kills one person and injures ten others after attempting to enter a school at Finnish shopping mall

A man armed with knife has killed one person and injured ten others in a knife attack at kuopio shopping mall in Finland today.

According to reports, the attacker tried to enter the Savo vocational school which is housed within the shopping complex.

Several people sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment .

A witness who spoke to MTV said the attacker brought out a ‘sword ‘and ‘stabbed as many as he could.’

The attacker, a pupil at the vocational school, was arrested at the scene of the incident and he is one of those in the hospital.

Police said they fired a weapon to arrest him but did not say whether he was shot.

‘Officers used firearms during the situation. Police have detained one perpetrator. The injured have been evacuated,’ East Finland Police said.

Finland’s interior minister Maria Ohisalo described the incident as ‘shocking’ and has offered ‘condolences to the victims and relatives’.

Kuopio is a city around 200 miles north of Helsinki.
