Tanko Confirmed The Substantive CJN by the Senate

The senate has on Wednesday plenary, after cross examination and screening, confirmed Justice Muhammad Tanko as the Nigeria’s new Chief Justice.

The screening that saw to Tanko’s confirmation today lasted for about 90 minutes, during which he answered questions based on administration of criminal justice, corruption, independence of the Judiciary etc.

It could be recalled that Justice Tanko was appointed by President Buhari in January as the acting CJN following the suspension of Justice Onnoghen.

President Buhari had last week in accordance with the recommendation of the National Judicial Council(NJC), sent a letter to the Senate that Tanko should be confirmed as the Substantive Chief Justice of the Federation.
