Tanko To Be Confirmed The New CJN.
The issue of confirming the acting Chief Justice of the Federation- Mohammad Tanko as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria has been resolved by the Senate.
Senate president, Ahmed Lawan, on today’s plenary said that the screening will be done on Wednesday, 17th July by the entire Senate.
It could be recalled that President Buhari had earlier last week, based on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council and the 1999 Constitution, section 23(1), sent Tanko’s name for approval by the Senate.
The President also sent another letter to the Senate for confirmation of 15 advisers to the president.
