Thugs assault Oshiomhole and 14 others in Edo State

Seidu Oshomhole, brother to Adams Oshimhole, National Chairman of the APC and former Governor of Edo State, was assaulted yesterday along with 14 other lawmakers-elect in the state .

According to report, the lawmakers were having a meeting at an undisclosed location when they were assualted by thugs allegedly hired by the state government .

The meeting was held following the midnight inauguration of nine members of the new parliament and subsequent election of Frank Okiye as speaker .

Recall that 9 out of the 24 members of the parliament met to elect a speaker in what may have been described as unconstitutional.

It was gathered that the ongoing crisis in the state assembly is as a result of disagreement between Governor Godwin Obaseki and Adams Oshiomhole .

The 15 lawmakers who were assaulted have reported the case at the police headquarters.
