Tragedy: Domestic staff kills employer and her 89-year-old mother, a day after resuming work
The suspect, Joseph Ogbu has been arrested for killing his employer, 38-year-old Oreoluewa John and her 89-year-old mother, Adejoke John in their home at No. 4 Ogunlana drive in Surulere, Lagos State.
The 22-year-old suspect is said be an indigene of Benue state. He was said to have been employed on June 18, 2019 and he carried out the murder the next day being June 19, 2019.
According to his statement at the police station, the suspect said his employer asked him to clean the house at about 9:00pm on the said day, June 19, 2019 but in the process he had an argument with his employer which prompted him to stab her with a knife.
He further stated that the mother of the deceased on seeing the incident, slumped and died out of shock.
He then went ahead to move some valuable properties such as household items, handsets and electronics into his employer’s car and drove off, in attempt to escape but was intercepted by policemen who were on patrol that night.
