Watch video of gun battle between South African robbers and guards in a foiled Eastern Cape robbery

There was a gunbattle between a G4S armed guard and armed robbers who attempted to rob a cash Van on Friday afternoon .

The incident which occurred at Caltex garage on Willowvale Main Road, Eastern Cape, left the guard and two of the robbers injured .

The robbers reportedly fled in a Golf 7 empty-handed after one of them was hit in the legs and dropped the cash cannister as he tried to run to the gateway car .

The lone guard was rushed to hospital with bullet wounds.

In the CCTV footage, the guard is seen being ambushed while returning back to Cash van outside the filling station shop after collecting money from the store safe.

Addressing newsmen, the police spokesperson, Brig Vishnu Naidoo said they are talking with the neighbouring businesses to see if they can share their CCTV footage.

He also revealed that no arrest has been made
