The man identified as Mr. Samuel Chidi, a Law graduate of the Ebonyi State University, insisted and forced the wife to deliver at home after she had previously given birth to twins via cesarean section. The wife was said to have bled to death after he locked and forced her to deliver the baby at home. The man has since been arrested by the Nigerian police for deliberate crime negligence.
The incident which was said to have occurred at about 11pm according to neighbors but the husband did not inform any of his compound neighbors but instead invited a patent medicine dealer to handle his wife case. The patent medicine dealer made matters worse when he injected her with a wrong dose which complicated the issue and lead to serious bleeding and pains. The patent medicine dealer after injecting her forced the baby out while her husband pinned her down. They both removed the placenta and hid it in the room.
It was gathered that a registered Nurse came in the morning to check on the woman when she found out what had happened.
Sources gathered that neighbors forced the man to deposit the corpse of his wife in the mortuary and take the baby to the hospital for proper medical care.
The family member of the wife were immediately contacted and the husband was made to take her corpse back home and “do with it whatever he pleases to do”. The aggrieved family member blamed him for his negligence and killing their daughter.
It was for the quick intervention of the Nigerian police, Kpirikpiri station, that got information about the situation and rushed to arrest the man.The woman’s corpse was later returned to the mortuary at Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki while the suspect remain in police custody while awaiting trail and justice as the family of the deceased and her neighbors are still shocked over the incident.
