Yellow Fever: Katsina records 36 cases

Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Mannir Yakubu, has said two of the state’s local governments; Danmusa and Kankara have recorded 36 cases of yellow fever.

Yakubu said this while speaking at the flag off of ‘Vaccination against Yellow Fever’ at the weekend.

“Yellow fever is a serious infectious disease transmitted by specific kind of infected mosquitoes”, he said.

Yakubu represented by the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Health, Dr Kabir Mustapha, urged residents between the ages of 9months and 44years to present themselves for the free vaccination so as to avoid the spread of the disease.

In their goodwill message, the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF Head of Communication Specialist, Musa Rabiu, assured the state government of their commitment towards addressing health and educational challenges in the state.
