Boko Haram members attack Nigerian military convoy, cart away cash and equipment

A Military convoy was attacked on Friday by Members of the Islamic sect, Bokoharam, who carted away millions of naira and equipment belonging to the Military.

According to reports, soldiers of the Nigerian Army Super Camp 3 and the 231 Battalion — both under Sector 2 Operation Lafiya Dole, were moving supplies from Damaturu, Yobe State, to Biu, Borno State on Friday September 6th when they drove into a Boko Haram pitfall around Azare-Kamuya end of the highway at about 9:00am.

A gunbattle between the soldiers and the sect members left at least one soldier wounded and a large military equipment destroyed .

A gun truck for the 231 Battalion was captured and taken away by the insurgents.

The sect members also made away with N15,492,000 in ration cash allowance for soldiers on the frontlines. At N1,000 per day, the amount can cover allowances of 20,000 troops for a week.

The Nigerian Army is yet to comment on the latest attack on its logistics convoy .
