FG won’t spare anyone disseminating fake news and hate speech — Lai Mohammed

The Federal Government has said it would not spare anyone spreading fake news and hate speech on social media.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, made this known while addressing journalists in Abuja on Tuesday.

He said that fake news and hate speech “represent a clear and imminent danger to our survival as a nation.”

He stated: “No responsible government will sit by and allow fake news and hate speech to dominate its media space, because of the capacity of this menace to exploit our national fault lines to set us against each other and trigger a national conflagration.

“That is why we will continue to evolve ways to tackle fake news and hate speech until we banish both.”

Mohammed urged journalists’ to support government’s efforts towards banishing fake news and hate speech from the nation’s media space.
