Senator Elisha Abbo in Abuja magistrate Court over assault charges(video)
The Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, Elisha Abbo was arraigned today before Zuba Magistrate Court in Abuja on a one-count charge of assault.
We reported that Senator Abbo assaulted a nursing mother on 11th May 2019 in a s*x shop located in Abuja where he went to make purchase.
The senator was caught on camera hitting the woman repeatedly for intervening in an argument between him and the shop owner . WATCH HERE
The viral video sparked outrage with many Nigerians calling for his prosecution .
He was arraigned today 8th July 2019 on a one-count charge of assault which he pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N5million.
Senior Magistrate Abdullahi Ilellah granted the bail with two sureties and they must have a verifiable address within the Federal Capital Territory.
The case was adjourned to July 22nd for hearing .
Meanwhile the Nigerian Senate has set up a committee to investigate the case. Two women and Six men were chosen as members of the committee headed by Senator Sam Egwu.
