Woman Crush Wednesday

This edition of woman crush wednesday is a special one no doubts because,

  1. It features more than one woman.
  2. It is not about the past or history but about winning the past and giving way to a superb present.
  3. Its about those women who with support, care, friendship and out of love had kept the secret and private life of their friend ‘private’.

Over the years, marital issues in the movie industry especially here in Nigeria has been dramatic, with many celebrity marriages hitting the rock after series of true and untrue stories of abuse and domestic violence.

This article is not to demean anyone or celebrate their broken knots, it is about the present, thereby we only aim to celebrate their courage to leave and ‘live’ again after such tragic scenarios in their life, and also for encouraging others within and outside the industry to do the same.

Recently, congratulatory messages, posts and pictures of Toyin Abrahams, husband and new born baby boy flooded and is still trending on social media platforms. This came as a surprise to many within and outside the ‘gossip stricken Industry’, because the actress had not made public her new found love, marriage and pregnancy prior to child birth, the same goes for Ronke Odusanya who had a baby girl few days after.

The month of August is indeed a month of celebration for the duo and their loved ones, but what we here think is worth celebrating; are those friends within and outside the industry, who had known all along but refuse to make a public spectacle of their friend, the long cycle of friends so long but had kept their friend and colleague affairs so short and hidden until she was ready to spill the beans herself.

That is quite amazing, considering the competition, the ruckus, the rumours, jealousy, envy and many vices that features and are known to exist in an organization as Nollywood and any relationship involving women.

These women have therefore proven beyond reasonable doubt once again that women are capable of loving and surpporting not only the oposite sex, but themselves as well.

A woman supporting a woman in a world wreaked with envy, competition and unhealthy rivalry is something worth writing about.

They have done the womenfolk proud.
