At least 60 people escape death as a wing of a popular hotel collapses in Abakaliki

At least 60 people escaped death after a wing of a popular hotel collapsed in Ebony state capital, Abakaliki, ,last night.

It was gathered that the management of the hotel had earlier noticed a crack in some of the pillars holding the building and quickly sealed off the side of the building .

According to Austine Orji, the manager of the hotel , renovations commenced immediately after the crack was noticed and it was on the process of renovating the building it collapsed .

Fortunately no life was lost in the incident as those who lodged in the hotel were attending a seminar outside the building .

This morning the Abakaliki Capital Territory Development Authority sealed off the remaining 26 rooms.
