Breaking! Court orders Dame Patience Jonathan to forfeit $8.4m(N3billion) and N9.2m to the Federal Government

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has today being Monday 1st July 2019, ordered the permanent forfeiture of the sums of N9.2bn and $8.4m recovered from wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience.

Justice Mojisola Olatoregun gave the order that the funds be forfeited to the Federal Government, after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission filed an application, which said the funds were proceeds of crime.

The Judge gave the order as a result of Patience Jonathan not being able to prove that the money was earned from legitimate dealings.
