Manchester United legend Patrice Evra announces retirement from football

The Manchester United legend Patrice Evra has announced his retirement from football.

Evra who was one of the club’s best ever left – backs revealed that he has started preparations to become a coach with the support of legendary united manager Alex Ferguson.

He announced his retirement on Monday,July 29.

“My playing career is officially over”, he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

I started training for the UEFA B Coaching License in 2013, now I want to finish it and then go on to get the UEFA A license.

In a year and a half, if everything goes well, I’ll be ready to lead a team, he said.

Evra later posted a six minute video of his career highlights on Instagram, accompanied with the caption: ‘Merci Au Revoir’, which translates to ‘Thank you goodbye’.

Evra joined the Premier league giants in January 2006 in a £7 million deal from Monaco, went on to make 379 appearances ,scoring 10 goals. It was during that time he won a champions League, five Premier League trophies and three League Cups .

He joined Juventus in 2014 where he won three Serie A trophies, and Coppa Italias.
